The AB blood type is the newest of all blood types as it has evolved out of a combination of the A and B blood types instead of evolving out of environmental factors like the other types. This puts an interesting spin on the chameleon like AB individual. In general, Type AB has trouble digesting proteins due to the A trait of low stomach acid, however, can blunt cortisol and other stress hormones more effectively than the A which allows for a higher level of endurance to exercise.
Type AB must pay specific attention to immune function. With a combination of genetic material coming from two other blood types, Type AB may suffer from having a decrease in Natural Killer Cell activity. This means that the AB immune system is susceptible to bacterial and viral infections, especially if they fail to adhere to the AB diet.

When it comes to stress hormones, Type AB most resembles Type O. There is a tendency to overproduce chemicals such as adrenaline so be sure to incorporate both higher intense exercise with relaxation exercises, such as Hatha Yoga. Daily exercise routines are important to both physical and emotional health. Due to the increased ability for Type AB to eliminate nitric oxide, they may suffer physical effects of emotions much like Type B. It is important to avoid internalizing emotions – especially anger and frustration. Take after your Type O and express your emotions.
